Regulation, reframed

Regulation is not about becoming calm. It is about building capacity.

You may already know the tools: breathe, ground, slow down, rest. And still, in the moments that matter, it can be hard to know what your body actually needs.

Sometimes grounding helps. Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes rest restores you, and sometimes what looks like rest is collapse. REGULATE teaches you to tell the difference: to notice activation without being swept away, to work with your edge without flooding, and to build capacity through titration, in small doses your system can actually integrate.

More sensation.

More emotional range.

More pleasure.

More intimacy.

More rest.

More aliveness.

The aim is not a smaller, more controlled life. It is a nervous system with enough capacity to hold a bigger one.

The framework

The House of Soma Method

Four principles, in sequence. REGULATE is your foundation in each one.

1

Interrupt

Notice what is happening in your body before the old pattern takes over.

2

Understand

Learn to read your nervous system and what it is actually asking for.

3

Complete

Learn to notice and follow unfinished or inhibited impulses, slowly, without forcing release.

4

Participate

Bring more capacity into relationships, creativity, pleasure and everyday life.

Your nervous system isn’t in the way of an extraordinary life. It’s the doorway to it.

— Laura Emilia

The structure

The 6-week journey

Six Thursdays, 29 October – 3 December 2026.

1

Orientation + tracking

Recognise what is happening in your body, in real time.

2

Grounding + breath

Explore support and settling, and when grounding helps and when it doesn’t.

3

Capacity + resourcing

Build capacity through titration, resourcing and working with your edge.

4

Rest + yielding

Learn the difference between restorative rest and collapse.

5

Movement, impulse + completion

Explore what happens when a movement impulse is given enough space to unfold.

6

Co-regulation + integration

Bring the work into relationship and build a practice that is yours.

You’ll finish with a personal regulation map, a small set of practices you understand deeply, and a clearer sense of what kind of support actually helps you.

Is this for you

REGULATE is for you if…

You often feel overwhelmed, anxious, shut down or chronically “on.”

You understand a lot intellectually, but struggle to access it when you are activated.

You know regulation tools, but aren’t sure when or how to use them.

You want more capacity, not only for stress, but for pleasure, intimacy, creativity and connection.

Please note

This is not therapy

REGULATE is an educational and experiential somatic course. It is not psychotherapy, trauma treatment, crisis support, or a substitute for individual mental health care. Every practice is choice-based, and you will always be encouraged to work within your own capacity.

If you are looking for individual support, Laura also offers 1:1 somatic psychotherapy and embodiment sessions.

About Laura

Laura Emilia Escudero is a somatic psychotherapist, movement therapist, bodyworker and yoga teacher with over a decade of experience in body-based practice.

Her work draws from Somatic Experiencing®, Hakomi, somatic movement therapy, expressive movement, bodywork, yoga and trauma-informed psychotherapy.

House of Soma was created as a space to explore the body not simply as something to regulate, but as a source of intelligence, expression, relationship and aliveness. REGULATE is the foundational doorway into that work.

From Laura’s one-to-one clients

What people say about working with Laura

"It is really rare to find someone like Laura to work with. I felt so comfortable being raw and vulnerable, facing wounds that even years of talk therapy hadn't touched. She always knew where my edge was, and how to meet it with softness, respect and authenticity."

Elisa Silbert Elisa Silbert — Somatic & trauma therapist

"Laura's ability to guide me into a space where I felt safe enough to tap into the somatic sensations of unprocessed trauma, and to compassionately re-orient and anchor me into my body, has been incredibly cathartic and empowering."

Jess Tan Jess Tan

"Laura has helped me open to new depths within myself, increase my capacity, and soften into the truth of who I am. She works in a gentle, reassuring and real way, unlike any other therapist I've experienced."

Grounded, felt-sense shifts

What might change?

Not an overnight transformation. Small, steady shifts in how you meet your life.

You may notice activation earlier, before it takes over.

You may have more choice in the moment before reacting.

You may recover more easily after intensity.

You may become more available for rest, pleasure, connection and movement.
